Okay let’s just admit it that we tend to oversleep often and the the next morning majority of us don’t have the time or patience to make breakfast while we’re rushing off for work. However this doesn’t mean that you should go out with an empty stomach. Smoothies are the most enriching breakfasts you can make in just 10 mins or less. Try out these very simple and lip-smacking smoothies and start your day on a right note.

 1)Strawberry and banana smoothie 

Bananas are available throughout the year but strawberry season is over already so it’s best to get frozen strawberries so as to not exceed your budget. 

Ingredients:  

  • 5-6 strawberries, hulled  
  • 1⁄2 medium banana, peeled and roughly chopped  
  • 1⁄2 cup 1% low-fat milk 
  •  1⁄4 cup natural yoghurt 
  •  ½ tsp clear honey 

Instructions: 

  • Place all the above ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Adjust the sweetness according to taste and pour into serving glasses.

2) Peanut butter smoothie 

This smoothie takes only 5 mins to make and is absolutely yummylicious and fulfilling 

 

 Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen banana, cut into chunks  
  • 1 teaspoon peanut butter 
  •  3 -4 ice cubes 
  •  1⁄2 cup cold skim milk or 1⁄2 cup soy milk 

 Instructions: 

  • Puree the frozen banana in a blender, processing for about 30 seconds. 
  • Add the peanut butter, process again. 
  • Now add the ice cubes, and process until some of them are crushed. 
  • Finally, add the milk, process until smooth and pour into a tall glass to drink.

3)Watermelon and mint smoothie 

Summer is here and watermelon is a must to beat the heat. If you do not like a heavy breakfast then this low calorie smoothie is just perfect for you. 

 

 Ingredients:

  • 1 cup seedless watermelon, chunks  
  • 1⁄2 tablespoon honey  
  • 1⁄2 tablespoon fresh mint leaves 
  •  1⁄2 cup fat-free lemon yogurt or plain yoghurt 
  • A pinch of cinnamon 

Instructions:  

  • Puree the watermelon, honey and mint quickly – make sure you do not over blend.  
  • Pulse in the yogurt and cinnamon until just smooth.  
  • Transfer to a glass and enjoy.

4)Green machine smoothie 

Nothing is more refreshing than starting your day with a vitamin rich breakfast. Not a fan of greens? Try this smoothie and trust me after a while you’ll love the taste of it. 

 

Ingredients: 

  • 1 cup orange juice  
  • 1 cup berries, frozen  
  • 1 cup kale  
  • 1 cup spinach 

Instructions: 

  • Throw ingredients in blender and process until smooth. 
  • Pour in a glass and enjoy.

5)Avocado and strawberry smoothie

Avocados are a little on the expensive side but very nutritious and rich in natural fat. They definitely taste better with everything and anything. 

 

Ingredients: 

  • ½ avocado stoned, peeled and cut into chunks 
  •  5-6 strawberries halved  
  • 2 tbsp low-fat natural yogurt  
  • 100ml semi-skimmed milk  
  • lemon or lime juice, to taste 
  •  honey to taste 

 Instructions: 

  • Put all the ingredients in a blender and whizz until smooth.  
  • If the consistency is too thick, add a little water. 
  • Pour into a glass and enjoy.
